Lighter Anchors(FX-16) from Fortress
A worthy anchor to have onboard should be easy to handle and provide outstanding holding power in a variety of bottom conditions. One such anchor, the FX-16 from Fortress Anchors, has been judged to be a leader by consistently outperforming others in worldwide tests.
The Fortress FX-16 anchor ranked higher than several other anchors in a recent test conducted by the international boating magazine Praktisk Batliv from Norway. The test found that this Fortress anchor provided far greater holding power than several heavier anchors.
The FX-16 accommodates boats up to 38'. Fortress has invested years of research creating a hardened aluminum-magnesium alloy anchor that does not depend upon weight to provide maximum holding power.

When it comes to Boat Anchors , Heavier may not be better
The Fortress FX-23 Anchor
A recent test conducted by Vela E Motore, an Italian boating magazine, proved that an anchor with an easy-to-manage weight can outperform a much heavier anchor in holding power. The FX-23 from Fortress Anchors, which weighs a mere 15 pounds, was judged the best. The FX-23 provided holding power of almost twice that of its 20 to 22 pound competitors. The Fortress model held 1,9824 pounds, the maximum amount the testing boat could pull, while its heavier competitors were able to hold only 133 to 1,025 pounds. In the holding power per weight category, the FX-23 finished first, holding 132 times its own weight.
Precision-machined from a hardened aluminum-magnesium alloy, this anchor is rustproof and corrosion-resistant. Its adjustable fluke angles provide increased holding power in a variety of bottom conditions. For added convenience, the Fortress FX-23 disassembles for easy storage and designed for vessels up to 45'.
Fortress Anchors are approved by the USA Bureau of Shipping and are used by the US Navy and US Coast Guard. The company manufactures boat anchors in eight sizes for boats up to 150'. The suggested retail price of the Lighter model FX-23 is approximately $200 (or less) and comes with a lifetime parts replacement warranty. Contact Fortress Marine Anchors.
