Clothing for yachting
- Yacht/Sailing Clothing
If you decide to go sailing, then you have to think about his outfit.
Specialized yachting is different, and now clothes for the water was surprisingly large. Explains this phenomenon is simple: because people pursue different goals propelled by sail, the producers want to meet all the needs of boaters. Accordingly, on the market today there are so many models and materials. Finding your way around is not easy, but we still try.
Principles of Sailing & Cruising Clothing
This - layering. Very often recommend a three-layer system, which includes basic, intermediate and waterproof layers. Such protection involves ensure maximum comfort.
It consists of several things that are in the category must have. This thermal underwear (base), fleece clothing (medium, or an insulating layer), and pants with a jacket (waterproof). Of course, we can not forget about the shoes, gloves and headgear. The latter, incidentally, is especially important for the fair half of mankind. Why it is important for girls to remove hair? Just beautiful growing hair can blow in the block on the boom-sheets. And it will hurt, and then another very long ugly.
Why it is important for girls to remove hair? Just beautiful growing
hair can blow in the block on the boom-sheets. And it will hurt,
and then another very long ugly.
Multilayered system of clothing has been designed for maximum functionality. Usually, all three layers of dress in the wet and cold weather. If the rain stopped, the wind slackened and was hot - upper impermeable layer is removed (jacket and pants). It became even warmer - you can remove the fleece clothing. And if the sun shines in all, and temperature all increase, we can safely change into shorts and t-shirts. Moreover, manufacturers have taken into account the operating conditions of clothes on board, and even shorts made with reinforced back.
Clothing also depends on the goals. And, directly. Where are you
going to go? At sea, on the river? How long? These questions help
determine the options you want clothes and choose the best and most
Materials /Marine Clothing/
Elapsed time of incomprehensible kleenochnyh materials. In sailing, there are fewer chances to look like in those, yet narrow-minded times, when they look like alien intruders in frightening costumes. New era equipment. Now, manufacturing companies are trying to surpass each other in introducing new technology and all the know-how.
We now turn to an analysis by layers of equipment. So:
Clothing of this layer is also called a capillary. The density of tissue produced two types. i2 Lite provides good ventilation during exercise and during warm weather. i2 Tec is used in cold weather and is aimed at maximum heat retention.
- Medium or insulating layer
For the production of the fabric is made of synthetic insulating fibers. They provide a progress of moisture to the outer layer. These materials dry quickly and retain heat well. It also provides fabric of different density (as a rule - fleece). There are models with an external finish from moisture.
- The outer layer
Designed for protection against wind and water. For its production
uses membrane (breathable) fabric, which allows you to display the
moisture out of the inner layers, but do not let her inside. Please
be aware that it has no insulating properties.
Thank God that the world is not standing still. And well, that changes happen quickly. Linen is now not just a subtle, but very subtle. And warm. Works like a thermos. That is, retains body heat, protects the skin and not let the cold. But at the same time, is blown. Therefore, it should be poddevat under clothing (second layer). Only in this case it works. Thermo is worn directly on the body, thus contributing to the moisture. In this technology allows to keep warm and dry even during intensive exercise.
Here, as nowhere else a lot of diversity. Select - do not want to! If someone does not know what Polartec - is one form of this material. Other members of this family does not concede to the patented brand.
Types of fleece:
So called very thin material of the second layer.
- 100 - 200 - 300. Thickness and, consequently, on the heat. The warmest kind of fleece clothing - 300.
- Wind bloc
This material does not heat, but protects from the wind.
- Wind active (90% windproof from wind bloc)
This, respectively, and warm, and protected from the wind.
Of course, special. Drawing and material soles should be different from the everyday. It can walk and the streets. But not vice versa: in street shoes should not climb aboard. And here are a few reasons. Special yacht provides special shoes sole. She does not collect coastal sand, leaves no traces on the deck and does not slide. It is very important because of the stability and confident movement on board the boat depends on many things. And the victory - not the last argument to pick up a special footwear.
The material is also used special. Manufacturers account for the frequent contact with water and so impregnated fabric by special structures. Sebago and Henri Lloyd ofer the latest fabric technologies men's, women's footwear, Extreme Boot Series for Ocean and more comfort waterproof, deck shoes.
Shoes are of the following types:
- Leather boots
- Rubber boots
- Neoprene boots and shoes
- Deck Shoes
Orientation to Sports
Naturally, under this category in the clothes of high comfort level. This means that it was convenient to move around the boat, and it is not shackled with the movement and was designed for different weather conditions.
Here alone can note the "wet" suits that are designed specifically for shvertbotistov. They are designed to protect against water and cold. Accordingly, the thicker layer of neoprene, the higher protective properties. Female models tailored, taking into account the structural features of the body beautiful half of the fleet.
Here, all grown-up. And the pants and jackets, and shirts, and shoes. Discrimination - no. Moreover, all these models are designed for growth. So the focus should be not on age but on the rise.
Mandatory and desirable
Belay jackets or spasiki. The main requirements for them - the reliability and comfort. Therefore they should be the minimum amount and not constrain movement. In addition, this part shall be as close to the body, and it can only provide adjustable straps.
Trapezoid. Very desirable item, allowing the most efficient otkrenivat boat. Applies only in the races. In this case, it helps to evenly distribute the load, reducing painful pressure on parts of the body. In addition, the modern trapeze equipped with modern machinery, which allow you to adjust the body position and release even under load. Just press the button.
This - the most interesting niche. Kind of phenomenon. As women are increasingly attached to the delights of water-windy element, the producers decided to restore fairness, and began to sew clothes for women. Here you can find Windproof jackets screaming pink flowers. Or women's pants: they include all the features of shape and help to purchase almost feminine silhouette. But, between ourselves, the silhouette of this is far from the notion of "girl".
In addition, representatives of the weaker fun can buy an interesting t-shirts pink and blue flowers. And with pictures of sailing topics. Even a T-shirt-vest with a small complication corset type.
Involved in this niche cruising - company GILL.
Here, first of all, we should talk about the line of clothing company MUSTO. It's called casual. It is designed for everyday wear. It includes different sweaters and shirts - they can be worn even in the office. Accordingly, the sailor sailor sees from afar.
In the line of Murphy & Nye is a series of the same name. More precisely, almost all products are oriented primarily to a combination of contemporary design nautical theme and practicality. Producers gave clothes ability to withstand various weather conditions. For example, trousers and coats of canvas well protected from strong winds, and processing the tissue under the effect of wear can really call them trendy.
Pts. This is - a separate issue. For comfortable walking on a yacht need not just sunglasses, but with polarizing glasses. They know how to protect your eyes from glare and designed for continuous circulation of the water element. In addition, a set of such points typically includes a safety strap. It lets you forget that glasses can fall off. But even if you somehow managed to throw off the unthinkable way points into the water - do not have to worry about. They did not sink due to the special materials. And it's not all. In yachting stores you can buy a set with three sets of glasses for different weather:
- Dark, with full protection from glare, sunny weather;
- With yellow glass for low light;
- With transparent windows for changing light conditions.
Usually, such design points is equipped with side shields with ventilation holes - from sweating. In addition, these sunglasses are big enough. I know someone who has bought this kit, simply because it allows poddevat under ordinary glass spectacles.
Here we will tell you about hats and caps. Unfortunately, it will not so much as about the glasses, because of the smaller variety of models. What kinds of hats in the yachting gear: Naturally, there are warm and have light, there is a model of Ala-hood. Despite the fact that she resembles the classic uniforms for a bank robbery, is still "kapyushonka" quite practical, warm and comfortable.
The whole conversation can turn on the bags. They are different. There are simply waterproof bags for clothes. And there are bags with a variety of "widgets." With multiple pockets - for dry and wet clothing. Even with compartments for drying clothes. In some models are drains and valves from the water.
Single chip - T-shirt for the trapeze. She wears on top of all clothing, while on her stomach she made a special opening for fastening.
Yacht Clothing happen, including, and different profiles. For example, the brand Gaastra creates models that are also suitable for winter sports and different activities. In this case, clothes of this brand provide reliable protection from wind and water, as designers try to give a maximum of style of each item from the collection.

Protective layer clothing
Whether your sailing involves daytrips in local waters or crossing oceans under grueling conditions, you can enjoy boating year ‘round if you're equipped with the proper attire.
The key is knowing how to stay comfortable. Discomfort, however slight, can turn what would otherwise be a pleasurable day on the water into torture. Being comfortable means you're not too hot, not too cold, not too wet, and not too clammy or steamy inside your foul weather gear. In order to stay comfortable, you must control the microclimate immediately surrounding your body.
The secret of climate control is layering. Layering is a technique of adding or subtracting different clothing types to form multiple combinations that address whatever the current wind, weather, water and temperature conditions dictate. The types of clothing you wear on boating outings, their fabrics and weights, will depend upon your predominant boating style and the location and duration of your outings.
A complete and effective layering system consists three layers designed to work together to control heat transfer and manage moisture. Each layer is made up of different types of garments and fabrics that perform different functions and in combination, keep you cool (or warm), dry and comfortable. You should choose layering garments that are easy to adjust as conditions change so you can maximize their usefulness under a variety of conditions.
Base Layer Clothing
This is the layer next to your skin. Its primary function is to wick, or transfer, moisture away from your skin. Wicking the moisture away allows your body to control its own temperature through the process of perspiration and evaporation and leaves a warm, dry layer of air next to your skin. Nonabsorbent synthetic fibers excel at this. Their capillary action sends the moisture to the outside of the fabric, away from your skin. These fabrics include acrylics, polyester, polypropylene, Polartec®, Capilene® and other modern synthetics. Thermal top, leggings and undergarments are available in several weights for different levels of effective vapor transfer and protection against cold.
Worn over the base layer, the role of the insulating middle layer is to reduce heat transfer between your warm skin and the cold air outside. It must be effective in trapping a layer of heated air next to the skin and reducing circulation to keep it there. A synthetic such as fleece is an excellent choice for the insulating layer because it wicks moisture away from the base layer and the body, transfering it to the outside of the garment. It is lightweight, warm, water-repellent and dries quickly. The denser the fabric, the better it is at reducing air circulation and preserving warmth. Many boaters choose sleeveless zippered vests for this layer as they allow greater mobility for the arms and can be unzipped or easily removed as conditions change.
Outer Protective Layer
The exterior layer works to prevent wind, water and cold air from penetrating through to your skin, thus allowing the wicking and insulating layers below to do their jobs. There are many types of protective layers designed for conditions from mild to severe from which to choose.
They range from simple, inexpensive water-resistant windbreakers that shed spray and cut the chill to top-of-the-line, transoceanic technical garments made of high-tech breathable fabrics like Gill-TEX® and Gore-TEX®. These fabrics have coatings and wind-blocking membranes designed to keep the wearer warm, dry and comfortable for days at a time under the harshest conditions imaginable. Breathable fabrics cost more, but they are constructed with microporous fabrics and coatings that allow moisture to escape from inside the layering system so your body's built-in temperature regulating system can keep you comfortable, warm and dry (or cool in tropical climates).
The outer protective layer should also include garments that prevent heat loss from your head, hands and feet. Hats, gloves and socks made of wicking, insulating and wind- and waterproof fabrics work well here, too. And don't forget your feet, waterproof boots with nonskid soles for a sure footing and tops that cinch to keep out cold water, worn over a pair of wicking, insulating synthetic socks, are a great comfort enhancement when the wind starts to blow, the rain starts to lash and the seas are kicking up.
