its Victorian-era architecture and charming historic district.

"I have to announce that ,while the dining is great,
the biggest attraction to me is the camaraderie if the members.
The enthusiasm of the tennis players, the Pool sharks and
the card groups is contagious. I have been overjoyed with
our membership at the Isles Yacht Club."
"The B. R. Cohn wine dinner was top notch. Six of us
at the table were discussing the Disney Food & Wine Festival
for this fall. We have attended it for the last four years.
After three courses of the dinner, we were questioning how
are dinner compared to Disney. After the sixth and last course,
the six of us decided the Isles dinner was as good as Victoria
and Albert at Disney, but better because it was only half
the price. With four of these special wine dinners a year,
you can pick and choose or do them all."
"My wife and I just returned from a fabulous trip to
Captiva Island Yacht Club. Our major reason for joining the
Isles Yacht was to take advantage of the reciprocal agreements
with the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs. We have found all
the yacht clubs we have visited to be very friendly (they
treated us like we were members of their club), the food always
very good to excellent, and plenty to do in and around each
club. We are active cruisers, and we found that each month
if we stay overnight for just three nights at different FCYC
clubs, that more than pays for our monthly dues at the Isles
Yacht Club."
"Exceptional food, service and decor. Perfect for a
nice dinner. Save up some $$ before you go though!!! Also
you can only eat here if you are a member so grab one and

it is a great stopping point en route to your destinations

will make your experience the best possible at all times!
From one member to all, Nick is a great example of Perfect
Service and Professionalism, and the reason why I visit this
location."
"Former PAGYC now owned by larger prestigious SPYC.
Building, docks and parking have been substantially upgraded,
but the club still offers the same small friendly environment
and good food. Just a walk away from the beach, arriving here
feels like you are on a small island, great bars and restaurants
are never far away. Club is a member of the FCYC and has full
reciprocal arrangements with most of the other clubs. Members
and their guests are welcome. Transient dockage is available
to FCYC members only, call for reservations."

A Norther Exposure
I don't know how many of you have seen my boat Thumper.
It is a modified 25' Swedish-built power cruiser into which
I installed a 10hp single-cylinder Saab Norwegian wnk-bon
engine that swings an 18" variable-pilch prop. With 10
"draft horses," I have learned to trust the boat
in all kinds of weather. The Saab has never failed, even once,
in many Bahamas round trips from Hilton Head SC.
After quite an adventure transiting the SouJh Bight of Andros.
I was anchored in the worst holding anchorage in the whole
of the Bahamas- Fresh Creek. There was an approaching cold
front coming down from Florida with 40 knot winds reported.
One report from Rick WD6LNH had 60-knot gusts. I realized
that I would drag for sure al Fresh Creek. All the moorings
were taken and besides. I have an aversion to taking them.
So after thinking about it for a few minutes, I decided to
head tor Morgans Bluff. knowing full well that the front would
pass over me while en route. I have often wondered what it
would be like offshore during a strong fiontal passage. This
was my chance to discover lor myself what was really so awful
about Northers. On Sunday morning, February 23, at 0700 I
upped the three anchors I had laid down in hopes of staying
put in the blow and headed offshore bound for Morgans Bluff.
I planned to meet David KE4BHJ and Mindy KE4BHK aboard Little
Cruiser who were waiting for me. I didn't think there was
much cur- rent in the Tongue-of-the-Ocean so the strong winds
that were coming would not react adversely as they would in
the Gulf Stream. It took about three hours to get half to
Morgans Bluff, and then the front hit us.The winds before
the front were about 20 knots from my Port Stem Quarter. The
seas were four to five feet and breaking with white caps everywhere.
Thumper does well in a following sea and the old Autohelm
was handling her very well. I was just an observer to this
whole adventure, hanging on, of course. Thumper normally cruises
about 5,5 knots, but that day, running down wind with all
those seas, we were doing about 7,5 knots. That's really smoking
for Thumper. I had been watching the approaching cold fitml
for about two hours and it was getting pretty close. There
was an awful looking roll cloud near the water and nothing
but black every- where else behind. Soon I could see the leading
edge of the wind on the water and it was moving very fast
in my direction. Pretty scary looking, which made me wonder
if I had made another bad mistake. The frontal wind was coming
at Thumper from about 11 o'clock and moving fast. I left the
auto pilot engaged and watched the storm approach. When the
leading edge hit us it had to have been blowing at least 40
knots. Thumper doesn't have much windage, so the wind didn't
do much to us, but the wind swung one hundred eighty degrees
and started knocking the whitecaps over backwards and almost
immediately started blowing down the wave height. Very shortly
those five footers were down to about two feet. The wind,
still blowing at least 40 knots, was getting ready to start
building up some serious seas of its own when it started raining
so hard that it kept the seas from building up at all. At
one point the seas were actually flat even though the wind
was still blowing 40. Quite an interesting show.[...]

"Carefree Boat Club of Largo was the answer to all my
boating needs. My husband and I were looking to purchase a
boat to use in The Tampa Bay Area and we decided to go with
Carefree Boat club instead. We are very pleased with the service
and the ability to work with our schedule. They even will
come in early to see my husband off for a early fishing expedition.
The boats are kept up and are in excellent condition. Check
out this boat club before you purchase a boat!"
"Such a wonderful experience! Carefree Boat Club offers
the best boats! They are very well taken care of and kept
high and dry instead of in the water. I was very impressed
with the employees and all the help that they give. If you
are looking for a Boat Club in the Tampa bay area this club
is worth checking out!!! It is close to my home in Largo so
it is easy to access!"
"Best Tampa Boat Clubs around! Carefree Boat Club is
a great alternative to owning a boat because we don't have
to worry about boat maintenance. I was shocked when I came
into the marina for the first time and they told me they always
clean the boats for us too!! My family used to do boat rentals
in Tampa Bay but that got too expensive. If you are looking
for Boat Club Coupons check them out online. They are reasonable
and I thought were more friendly than the other boat clubs
in Tampa. I appreciate everything you have done for me and
I'll always have a Carefree Boat in my life:)"
"Best Customer Service I have come across in a long
time. I joined this club last year and the owner, Marty, has
walked me through the steps of their Tampa boat club and I
can say I am comfortable at the helm now by myself. Nice Clean
Boats and the are maintained to a "T"! They always
have my favorite Pontoon Boat available in the marina. I love
to go out on Tampa Bay and relax in the warm sun with my family.
I am happy with my Boat Club Membership and these people know
how to run a business. I'll never look for Boat rentals in
Tampa Bay again after finding them. You guys are appreciated
and my family thanks you for all the kindness too."
"This is the best way to enjoy the Bay Area! Not only
do you get to enjoy the boats, and by that I mean ALL of them,
you don't have to worry about the clean up after!!! I have
to say this is the Best of all the Tampa Bay Boat Clubs! I
recommend this club to anyone! I would suggest if you are
thinking about joining, go in and see Marty and the boats.
You will see how well the boats are maintained and kept! The
Staff is always ready to help and greets you with a smile.
They live up to their name! They really are Carefree!"
"Best Boat Club in Tampa bar none from the research
I have done. There are a couple other national chains to choose
from but if you want a more laid back family atmosphere, I'd
choose Carefree Boat Club over Freedom Boats or any of the
other small outfits. These guys at Carefree clean their boats
and maintain their boats more than any other club have seen.
Their fleet isn't as big but is growing so they offer Boat
Club Coupons in Tampa online if you need discounts. I recommend
them to all my friends:)"

class was fantastic."
"I first met the members of BCYC two years ago. The
experiences, events, and friendships formed have been wonderful,
right from the start. I took their Sailing School program,
and everyone bent over backward to make sure that I learned
what I needed to learn to be safe in the water. I have a learning
disability and was not an easy student, but I was motivated.
With that, everyone from the director down, took an active
role in assuring I learned. They are some of the most patient
people in the world. I could go on and on about other facets
of the club, but Im running out of room. Just check out the
web page - it is an accurate representation of everything
they are into. The club has a very diversified membership,
